Have you heard of What's in the Bible?? I was so excited when I was presented with the opportunity to review the first volume, as I'm always looking for biblical resources to present to Moriah.
From the creator of Veggie Tales comes this great series that walks families through the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation.
"Biblical illiteracy is a huge problem in the church today as far too many kids are growing up without a clear understanding of their own faith. What's in the Bible? is an effort to provide kids a foundational knowledge of the Bible and of their faith that can launch them on a lifelong walk with God - a journey that will change them and change the world around them.
- Phil Vischer
We waited for our DVD to arrive and immediately popped it in! Moriah loved it! She loved the puppets and loved dancing to the music! Now, do I think that she understood the concept of what was being presented to her? Not yet! But, I also know that God tells us that his word won't return void (Isaiah 55:11)! I would much rather her watch a video teaching God's word than Barney any day, although we have our fair share of Barney, too!
I can honestly say that this video is great for every age bracket in your family. From the toddler to Mom and Dad, everyone can learn something! I also love that they don't worry about using big words; they simply teach biblical literacy, in a fun and engaging way.
Volume 1 features two 25 minute episodes (What is the Bible? and Who Wrote the Bible?) and bonus features, as well as a fun coloring page and questions for parents to ask their children after watching the video.

ReplyDeleteI have never heard of these but they sound great! Looks like I'll be stocking up for my own kids!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Although Lee and I don't have kids yet, we're always looking for good Biblically sound resources for the future. The way Bible stories are presented to kids is a concern of ours as well. We've found a couple of children's Bibles that we really like that we think stay true to the Bible. They are The Big Picture Story Bible and The Gospel Story Bible.
ReplyDeletei will give this to my nephew if i win
ReplyDeleteThis would be used for our family.

This sounds like a great DVD! I totally agree that I would rather have my children watching something that talks about God's word than just any cartoon. My son is just starting to get into watching short amounts of TV, so I think this would be perfect!
